My former roommate told me I should put rice in my pockets for new year’s because it will make me wealthy in the coming year. She is from Peru, where they also traditionally wear yellow underwear (but only if it was a gift) and run around the streets carrying empty suitcases on new year’s. Also, they eat 12 grapes at midnight - like the Spanish do.
